What rewards do I get for participating?

You'll receive a Visa Prepaid card for enrolling in Alliant Energy® Smart Hours.

In Iowa, you’ll receive a $50 enrollment bonus for each smart device you enroll in Smart Hours. Eligible devices include smart thermostats, electric water heaters and electric vehicles (EVs) or EV chargers (EVSEs). You’ll also receive a $25 Visa Prepaid card for each season (summer and winter) you participate.

In Wisconsin, you’ll receive a $25 enrollment bonus per smart device you enroll in Smart Hours. Eligible devices include smart thermostats, electric water heaters and EVs or EVSEs. You’ll also receive a $25 Visa Prepaid card for each season (summer and winter) you participate.

Battery storage:
When enrolled in Alliant Energy® Smart Hours for battery storage, you'll receive incentive payments via check.

For enrolling your battery energy storage system (BESS), you receive $100/kilowatt-hour of your system's nameplate capacity. If your household has multiple eligible batteries, or you expand your system capacity, you may enroll your new devices. See which brands we support.

Uplight issues performance incentives at the end of the year. Throughout the year, Smart Hours will track your performance and will calculate the average number of kilowatts shifted off-grid over all the year's events to determine your performance incentive.
